The results of this kind of diet simply means that these are not good diet habits. There are many people which have followed the Atkins diet later claim that it is very difficult to keep the pounds off when they resume good diet habits again. Like many other starvation, “feel good” diets, when you eat regular food again your body prepares for the next time it will be starved by building up energy reserves in the form of fat.
The one true healthy method, as recommended by most doctors and health professionals, to get rid of your weight and keep it off forever is to practice moderation and balance in both your diet and exercise levels. A good diet needs to provide you with all the required, essential nutrients your body craves and needs, but only what it needs and not too much so that there is a large excess. To properly function your body does need all the things that weight loss diets encourage you to avoid. Carbohydrates, fat, and cholesterol are all nutrients your body needs and will suffer without. Altering your diet and the foods you eat somewhat is a good way to help accomplish your weight loss goals, but any diet you subscribe to should still provide you with the required amount of all the nutrients you need, otherwise you will never be able to permanently keep the weight off.
