Benefits Of Making Your Hope Come True
We all have dreams. Some people Dream about a new life where they are able to enjoy being their own boss; others dream about a new career where financial rewards allow them to have more in their life; others dream about moving out of their impoverished cycle where they can live and do more of what they’ve always wanted. So, the question is this; why are dreams different than goals?
The main distinction is that dreamers will never have more than they already have. They are unable to live their dreams because they have not instituted any plans whatsoever that can move them forward.
Success and Goals
Failure to turn your dreams into a goal are no different than those New Year’s resolutions because these resolutions are never followed through, or are never a strong, burning desire to last more than a few days at best. If you are serious about turning a dream into a reality it is going to require many things among which is work. You get nothing unless you are committed to work; to invest time; to make sacrifices; to persevere; to able to move over, around, or through obstacles that fall in your path. Failure to plan means planning to lose.
My own dream about acquiring a university degree is one example of putting a dream into action. You see, I left high school with very poor grades and started to work in a meaningless position as a book packer, and order filler for a school supply company. It didn’t take me long to realize that I would never go anywhere in this kind of position.
Since I had left high school without the marks necessary to secure enrollment in a university, I could have just given up hope. But, I had a dream. And, my dream became so strong, so urgent, and so necessary that I decided I would do what it took to get there, to succeed, and to begin a better life. So, I started to unfold my dream by first writing it on paper. I also described my dream in vivid detail of how I would feel, how I would progress in a new career, and what kind of life pleasure I would have when I had accomplished my goal.
Next, I started to write to different universities inquiring of what I would have to do to be considered for enrollment. As I found out, I had to write an entrance exam and pass with flying colors. Armed with this knowledge, I went to a local book store and bought a text describing what was needed, what I had to learn. And, because I had been out of school for several years, I had to study hard; I had to work hard to bring my knowledge up to speed. The key words here are ‘work’ and ‘hard’. There is no easy way to start achieving a goal. It takes work, lots of work. You have to be able to set aside time, you have to be able to make sacrifices like working when you’d rather be playing, or persevering when you feel like giving up, and finding solutions to obstacles rather than viewing obstacles as a reason to quit.
To end my experience, I’ll just say this. I succeeded. I not only wrote the entrance exam, I was accepted. I just wasn’t accepted, I worked even harder to excel. I just didn’t excel, I graduated. And, graduation wasn’t the end either. You see, with success, comes even bigger dreams, and more action. With more action, come more accomplishments. And, it didn’t end there either. Once you know how to take a hope and turn it into reality, you’ll probably find that your entire life changes for the better.
Perseverance
If you have a burning desire, a dream, take the same action oriented steps over and over again, you’ll get what you want no matter how difficult, how much work, and no matter how long it takes.
