7 Frequently Found Prostate Symptoms That Should Not Be Ignored

Nearly all men will encounter prostate problems of some description as they grow older with problems generally beginning at about the age of 50. By 60 years of age approximately one in two men will be affected and by 80 years of age nine out of every ten men will be experiencing some prostate symptoms.

In a lot of cases prostate symptoms will be relatively mild and, as at this point in life most of us are starting to experience a variety of medical problems, we tend to simply ignore prostate symptoms as being nothing more than a normal part of the process of ageing. Many times this is fine since the majority of the problems seen with the prostate are not serious and, providing the symptoms don’t annoy you too much you can get along with them quite happily and they will not do you any real harm.

Regretably however in all too many cases the problem turns out to be prostate cancer and if you ignore this it may well spread and literally kill you. In fact, prostate cancer is responsible for the second highest cancer death toll in the America today.

There are a variety of symptoms which may point to developing problems and, as with a lot of things, such symptoms can also be caused by a wide range of different problems. In the majority of cases however if symptoms are not the result of problems with the prostate they will generally be short lived, resulting possibly from a bacterial infection which clears up in a week or two without the need for treatment. If however any of these symptoms start appearing on a regular basis or pop up and stay with you then it is likely that they are coming from an enlarged prostate gland. The symptoms can include:

1. Problems starting to urinate and a need to strain to begin urinating.

2. A weak flow of urine.

3. An interrupted flow of urine with a tendency to stop and start.

4. A feeling that your bladder is not empty even after you have just been to the toilet.

5. A feeling that you need to visit the bathroom urgently together with problems in “holding on”.

6. The need for frequent visits to the toilet and the need to get up in the night.

7. A tendency to continue to dribble urine after you have been to the toilet.

These prostate symptoms are the body’s alarm signals that problems may be starting to develop and, whilst in most instances this is not serious and nothing to worry about, for some men these are the alarm signals for a serious and all too frequently fatal condition.

The only certain way to find out whether you fall into the former or the latter category is get yourself checked out by your physician who will perform a couple of tests including a simple and effective male prostate exam.
