Your local sanitation office probably has a recycling services program that can help reduce the amount of waste that is going into a local landfill. The key is to ask before you start trying to recycle your waste products. Your local sanitation department may have a limited waste reduction service and only take certain kids of recyclables because it does not have the necessary facilities to process all types of waste.
Step two is the actual sorting of garbage into the appropriate recycling containers. Recyclables can be broken up into different categories. There are paper products, waste products, such as food scraps and yard trimmings, aluminum cans, glass containers and plastic containers. You may not have a place to take everything but every little bit helps the greater cause.

Once you have the appropriate containers, your next step is to perform the actual sorting. Do not wait until five minutes before the garbage pick-up is scheduled to begin sorting. The best advice is to do it as you go. When you are finished with that milk jug, rinse it out and place it in the plastics bin.
The same thing goes for that newspaper, aluminum cans and plastic bottles. If you want to keep your home smelling nice, then make sure you rinse out your containers before placing them in the recycling bins.
solid waste management
The knowledge on garbage recycling is out there for you to gain. Follow the three steps and you will find yourself using more recycled materials and keeping more materials out of our landfills. One person can make a difference by setting a good example at work, school and home.
You will be doing your part to help keep the environment safe. An additional note: try to use biodegradable products as much as possible. If this keeps up there will be more and more families doing their part to save the environment. After all, saving the environment and a liveable planet, is the best gift we can give our children.
