Discussing Existing Views on Faith Between the Christian Right
True as it is, the guiding moral philosophy of Golden Rule Christians is not restricted to traditional texts and beliefs, but to a wider range of religious attributes. In a way it interprets the Bible, although its main focus stays with the texts itself. With evangelicals being a great deal conservative and activists being slightly more liberal than Golden Rule Christians, Portland serves as a good example. This is due to the fact that the cultural diversity refers to a number of religions brought by the immigrants, who initially had to rely on the Portland Translator in founding their religious denominations. Even though most of them stick strictly to the Bible as the major source of religious inspirations two possible divisions have shaped up: the first refers to the evangelicals whose position on the Bible is quite liberal, and the second is the Golden Rule group who call the Bible unmarred, which is the conservative position. Given only those alternatives for beliefs about the Bible, Golden Rule Christians would undoubtedly have looked more unorthodox. Another reason for the division over the Bible may be the culture war that has also influenced American religion recently.
Some think that the Bible is an important part of their lives and their children should learn it. Being defined less by doctrine and more by practice and choices, the use for Scripture is not something they do not have only because they do not accept traditional definitions of inerrancy and inspiration. What Scripture serves for is to provide the necessary guidance, motivation and inspiration. The Bible can be a powerful tool that could make the life of the world and one’s own life much better, and though their knowledge of Scripture may not be very deep, they have at least some motivation to take the Bible as a serious work. As New York residents are probably the most colorful community in the world, this is particularly true for them. In the past they were in great need of the New York Translator in order to gain more profound knowledge of the English religious terminology in order to interpret the Biblical terms as they brought their religious expressions with them. Golden Rule Christians, as these findings point out, do not have as their primary goal the development of a coherent theological system, and salvation is not a notion they understand very well.
Having recently emigrated to the U.S., one member of Carmel United Methodist Church in Phoenix stated that he perceived God as the driving force of striving for constant improvement. His reflections were translated by the Phoenix Translation because he did not speak a very good English. They also helped many other immigrants in their starting a new life in a strange country. According to another church member God was in everything he did on this world. Salvation is a constant process of demonstrating with your life what you have learnt about God, rather than being a one-time experience. This was the conclusion reached during a discussion of salvation in a class for new members. According to a Phoenix newspaper they were proud to be a Christian newspaper, which meant they took that to mean that readers perceived them as a caring establishment that tried their best to strengthen the community.
