The Key to Making Up – Healing Your Broken Heart
How can you make up with your ex? How do you convince them that what the two of you had together was special? This is your guide to mending your broken heart and making up.
The first thing you have to do is realize that whatever happen is both of your faults. If they were not giving you what you needed then you may have looked for it elsewhere and cheated on them. If they cheated, you were the one not giving what they needed. Yes, the cheater is morally culpable for the cheating. The moral responsibility does not lie with the person who was cheated upon. But the fault lies in both party’s laps.
Given that, it is important to forgive and forget. Only letting go of the anger related to the incident will lead you to true forgiveness. The incident must never be mentioned again. You must remember the past is the past and don’t let it cloud your relationship. If you can’t let it go then it will be much more difficult to truly make up.
You have to apologize if it is your fault. Too many times, after people say “I’m sorry,” there’s an “Oops I did it again,” moment. You’re not Britney Spears. It’s not cute. You have to be willing to change if you want your apology to mean anything. You can forget about getting them back if you don’t commit to changing.
Prepare yourself to pamper them a bit in order to get their fogiveness. This doesn’t mean sending them hundreds of text messages or stalking them, but you have got to show them that you are still interested if you want to get them back. Don’t expect them to come forgive you right away just because you’ve sent out some signals that you are sorry. You need to put your heart on the line and your ego in check.
Even though you want to be totally back together your partner may want to only be friends. You may have to settle with what you can get. It may take time to rebuild the trust. If this is the case, you need to give them the space they need to get to know you again. Eventually you will be able to make up if you accept what they are willing to offer you right now.
Finally, you need to realize when the strategy of trying to make up isn’t working and you need to give up to heal your broken heart. You need to know when to move on. If you are in the position where your partner is unable to forgive you you must be willing to let go and begin looking for new relationships. While this will break your heart right now, it may be the best thing that could have happened to you. Whatever went wrong in this relationship, your soul mate is still out there. Getting them back may stop you from meeting them!
