Sights Make The Most Of In Paris

This, the last project of the ex French president Jacques Chirac, this, Paris’ newest museum, this picturesque museum is surrounded by trees on the banks of the Seine. This museum is basically unlike any other in Paris in that it showcases the work of non European cultures. Here you will find examples of the ethnic art of Africa, Oceaniam Asia and the Americas, combining works from the great collections at the Musée des Arts d’Afrique et d’Océanie and the Laboratoire d’Ethnologie du Musée de l’Homme.

Leisurely wake up early on a Saturday morning, leave your Paris accommodation and make your way down to the Musée du Quai Branly. Perhaps one of the most exciting features of this museum is it’s fascinating form. Angular, protruding, coloured metal boxes, the building itself is an eclectic mix of visual metaphors. The landscaped gardens are perfect to lose yourself in, taking up half the site of the 40,000sq m, here you will find an open-air amphitheatre and the “vertial garden” which has 15,000 plants scaling the façade of the building.

At the moment, this striking museum has a whole host of exhibitions available. Amongst the most interesting, the festive period will see an ice theme at the museum, including a skating rink for families to come and enjoy in the theatre of greenery. As well as this, made up of an igloo and an Ice bar, the frost area is at the centre of the activities organised from 26 December to 3 January for the “Far North” event. Here you can drink the Inuit tea offered to visitors, who are then invited to discover arctic tales and Inuit culture introduction workshops…

Finally, nearby the museum you will find many Paris apartments for rent. Don’t forget to go to the Musée du Quai Branly at 37, quai Branly 75007 – Paris (Tel: 01 56 61 70 00).
