Family Holidays In Puerto del Carmen
Every one of the Canary Islands has its favourite resorts and the Island of Lanzarote is no exception. The resort of Puerto del Carmen remains high on the list of favourites as it sheltered position against a backdrop of volcanoes means that it is well sheltered and an excellent sun trap.
These conditions mean that visitors can thoroughly enjoy the golden sandy beaches that run along its seafront, whether they are swimming, snorkeling or sun bathing. In addition, there have been recent improvements to the promenade which has greatly enhanced it for pedestrians.
Over the last forty years, the town has developed from its humble beginnings as a small fishing village to become the resort it is today. So it is now home to some of the best self-catering Lanzarote accommodation to be found on the island. Finding accommodation here should not be a problem as their are plenty of holiday villas in Lanzarote so most needs and requirements are well met.
All of the apartment complexes fit a similar blueprint of low rise buildings, with lush tropical planting surrounding them. This style of development helps to give the town its unspoiled and relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect backdrop for holidays.
There is no shortage of restaurants throughout the town, with almost every type of cuisine represented from Thai to Irish. Perhaps the most atmospheric area for dining is the old harbour, where numerous establishments look out over the sea towards the southern tip of the island.
The central area of the town is the place to head for nightlife, with a good selection of bars and clubs, many of which do not open until the early hours of the morning. This is especially true of the music venues, which younger visitors may want to sample.
