Qualifications That You Need For A Travel Nursing Career
To have a travel nursing career, you will need to have a few qualifications before you apply to a program. You will first need to have graduated from an accredited health care professional program. This program must be within the United States or Canada in order for you to qualify. Then, you will need to provide a valid nursing license or certification. In addition to that, you will need proof that you can work within the United States. One year of clinical experience in your field prior to application is necessary.
If you are worried about the requirements in other states, the program that you work with for your travel nursing career will be able to help you obtain the licensing that you need to work in other states. Most states, however, will recognize and accept your current license in order for you to work in a travel nursing career capacity.
The best part about beginning a travel nursing career is that there is no long term commitment. If you take and complete your first assignment, there is no obligation to take another one. But in order to fulfill your obligation, you must complete the assignments that your accept. They can be anywhere from one to twenty-six weeks, depending on the type of assignment that you choose. You can also chose to work as a full time or a part time travel nurse.
The pay for being a travel nurse averages $22 to $40 per hour. There is also a chance that the facility you choose to work with will offer sign up and/or completion bonuses of anywhere between $500 and $6000. These bonuses are usually available to those who sign up for multiple travel contracts. A travel nurse will also get compensated for any travel expenses that occur.
