There are far safer topics to use in humor, such as the workplace itself. One advantage the office comedian does have is an intimate knowledge of what his or her target audience of coworkers goes through every day. Knowing someone's daily routine and job frustrations opens up many possibilities in joking about the work your organization does and the foibles of that industry. You can tell jokes about your job that most people wouldn't get because you're telling them to people who understand perfectly.

One consideration for workplace comedy is choosing the right time and place to joke around. Naturally, the best time for some humor is when you're not working, but still around the people you work with, such as a coffee break, lunch, or during the commute. You can also try to be funny on the job, but when you're working, it's a good idea to use humor much more sparingly than you normally do.
